Ancient Olympia welcomes amateur and professional cyclists from all over the world on April 1-2 for the 1st L’Etape Greece by Tour de France to take place in Greece with the participation of three Greek champion cyclists.
More than 500 participants from 10 countries will have the chance to ride through the Valley of Gods and Ancient Olympia during the biggest cycling event ever held in the country. Greece is the 22nd nation to be hosting the global sporting event with courses designed based on Tour de France standards.
Jointly organized by EY ZHN Greece and the Western Greece Region, the 1st L’Étape Greece by Tour de France presented by Skoda includes the 150km Race, the 75km The Ride, the 35km Family Cycling event, and the 0.5km Children’s Ride. The main race will start and finish at Ancient Olympia.
According to organizers, more than 2,000 visitors in addition to the 500 participants are expected to travel to Ancient Olympia in the Peloponnese.
The main race kicks off on April 1 at 8.30am. The Family Ride and Kids Race start at 9am on April 2. Besides the races and award ceremonies, the 1st L’Étape Greece by Tour de France will also include happenings for kids and their families.
Setting the example will be Greek champion cyclists and Skoda Cycling Team members Georgios Bouglas, Polychronis Tzortzakis, and Periklis Ilias.
