Serbia and North Macedonia signed a cooperation memorandum for the construction of a natural gas pipeline that will connect the two countries. This pipeline will be a continuation of the interconnection pipeline that will transport natural gas from Greece to North Macedonia.
The signing of the memorandum took place after the meeting, today in Belgrade, of the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Dimitar Kovacevski, with his counterpart of Serbia, Ana Brnabic. “This is an important agreement in the energy sector, for an interconnecting natural gas pipeline between North Macedonia and Serbia that will ensure energy stability in the wider region,” pointed out Prime Minister Ana Brnabic. The two countries also signed two other memoranda concerning the facilitation of the movement of citizens and goods, and another which provides for the creation of a single electronic toll payment system that will be put into operation by the summer.
During the meeting of Dimiar Kovacevski with the prime minister of Serbia, it was established that the relations between the two countries are historically at the highest level. The will to deepen good neighborly relations was also expressed, while the importance and importance of the “Open Balkans” initiative for the economic development and well-being of the citizens was pointed out.
North Macedonian Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski also met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. In this meeting, as announced, bilateral relations and issues of the wider region were examined.
