TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– A decades-old Rose-Hulman tradition made its return on Sunday for the first time since 2011.
The Greek Games included over 300 students involved in fraternities or sororities at the college. Ryan Brimberry, the associate dean of student affairs, said that it was the students themselves who helped bring it back for the first time in over 10 years.
“We had mentioned Greek Games, how that used to be a thing on campus. The students really ran with it,” he said. “They’re the ones who decided, ‘let’s put a planning committee together,’ they started meeting weekly, like I said, and they decided that it would be the best way to really get a stronger bond between our greek life members.”
The activities included a race, kickball and dodgeball tournaments and an eating competition, among other things. The event goes back to at least the 1980’s, and Brimberry said he was excited for it to continue to grow.
“Next year, we’ll see how we can make it bigger and better, get more people to participate,” he said.
Brimberry said it is their goal to bring it back on a yearly basis.
